Reflow oven, pick and place, PVA—these are terms that folks who do not know electronics production language might not be familiar with. These are all pieces of equipment that are important parts of PCB and circuit assembly. They make the method faster, more accurate and sometimes miles better.
Soldering in circuit assembly is slightly different than something similar to craft and hobby soldering. That sort of hand-soldering is generally done with solder, flux and applied heat melting the solder as it is touched the surfaces that have to be joined. Electronic board soldering is usually done with solder paste that is applied where the elements need to be attached, rather than on one place at a time. This is sometimes known as reflow soldering.
The reflow oven is then used to melt all of the solder. The circuit assembly can be passed thru the oven for controlled heating to set the pieces firmly in place. This is a standard process for electronic companies.
Pick and place is mostly called a system, robot or machine, and they are also usually found in PCB circuit assembly. The machines can handle many miniscule components, picking them up and then placing them correctly onto the boards.
Some circuit assembly designs need hundreds or over 1,000 parts to be attached to the boards. Manual placement would not only be time-intensive to a crazy degree, but it would introduce tons of room for mistakes. Pick and place machines can mount the components exactly and swiftly.
Another piece of technology that does this is a PVA system for applying protective coating to circuit boards. MOR Manufacturing uses the PVA2000 which applies the coating exactly only where it’s required without wasted time or product. It’s programmed for each job, and uses a minimum of motion to do the coating. It also doesn’t leave the room for inaccuracy that hand application through methods like spraying or brushing regularly can. The machines can be programmed to do the job without error at a faster speed than people could, for a more prolonged amount of time..
Mor Manufacturing uses pick and place technology for high quality circuit assembly. Find out more at mormfg.com today.
